Throughout all the Earth

Frustrations come your way – you struggle with the same worries over and over – you have things that you want to talk to someone about, but you don’t know who might understand or have the time to listen – you feel alone.

We all have times of becoming overwhelmed by circumstances.  It may be something as simple as daily responsibilities at work or home.  It could be something more serious – like the illness of a loved one or being disappointed by something you hoped would come to pass.  The overwhelmed feeling manifests itself in a short temper, anxiety or feelings of depression.  We don’t know what to do or how to go about fixing the problem.

This verse tells of the one true and constant support we have available to us as children of God. 2 Chronicles 16:9a “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

I love this verse.  My favorite phrase is “strongly support”.  It gives me a sense of security and comfort.  We all want to be supported.  At times people will fail us, but God doesn’t.  The word support is defined as “a thing that bears the weight of something or keeps it upright”.  Fortunately for Christians, the support isn’t a thing but our Heavenly Father.  He is there to bear the weight of whatever is troubling us and to keep us upright.

We don’t have to figure out how to fix our problems – He has seen tomorrow and knows what will happen and what we need in order to make it through our circumstance.  If there’s one thing I have learned in the past ten years, it is that we really don’t have any control over what happens.  The only things we can control are our reactions and our attitude – and many times I need God’s help with these things as well!!

When the world seems to be crashing down and you feel overwhelmed and alone remember that God’s eyes are roaming throughout all the earth, keeping watch and STRONGLY supporting those He calls His own.

Very insightful…made me think of several praise choruses. Doesn’t it make you just truly understand the term “Abba”? Cuddled up in the loving, comforting arms of a Daddy who will never change, disappoint or leave – just support, encourage and remain constant! Wow! What a mighty God we serve!
